Cardiff Business School - Get ahead with a professional placement
At Cardiff Business School we encourage all of our international students to spend their third year on placement with a business/organisation. This allows you to gain a deeper insight and understanding of a specific sector, while setting yourselves apart from other graduates. A placement is often a great way to accelerate your career and help you fulfil your ambitions for your professional future.
These paid placements typically last between 9 and 12 months, and can be based within an organisation in Wales, across the UK or globally. As an international student, if you are successful in finding a placement you will need to request a visa extension, however our staff on hand to guide you through the process.
School of Geography and Planning - Studying to plan greener cities
The MSc in Eco-Cities in the School of Geography and Planning (ranked top 50 in the World QS ranking) offers an innovative teaching programme whereby students each year attend a field study visit in a major city. During their visit students gain valuable experience working with local stakeholders to help promote sustainable innovations for urban areas.
In 2016, students visited Jakarta, Indonesia where they analysed critical issues around water quality, access and governance. Working collaborative alongside postgraduate students from the Universitas Indonesia and Florida University students gain international competencies and they produced a book which reports on their work with local communities and proposals for environmental improvements. This work is contributing to ongoing debates on the management of water in Jakarta.
